This is going to be a boring text-only blog post. I know pictures are the best part and let's be honest, mostly the only thing we look at, but, if you're bored or curious, this is how my trip of the east coast went down.
Wednesday, June 9th
My roommate Shayla was so nice to bring me to the airport. We left around 3pm. We found out much later, that something super awful happened around the same time, where we live. So so so sad. (www.sltrib.com/news/ci_15268960)
While we were waiting for the plane to leave, the stewardess (what do you call a male stewardess?) got on and said that due to the altitude and some other things, we were "too heavy to take off". (?) So they needed eleven volunteers to take the next flight to Philly which would leave the next morning at 10am. They offered a free hotel and meal voucher, free transportation to the hotel and back, and a free $400 flight to anywhere in the world. Uh... Sweet! Usually, i'm all for doing these but, It would ruin our plans for going to Boston the next day, cause i wouldn't land until 4:30 which means we wouldn't get to Boston til after 10pm.. and that would waste an entire day. So i decided not to. Because so many people got off the plane, there were empty seats, which was sweet because i was stuck between to arabic old men. It worked out for me to move because i could have more space and one of the guys could sit next to his wife. Perfect.
I landed around 11:30pm and Jessica picked me up. We came home and talked til 2 or 3am. It was fun. She was super tired though cause she normally goes to bed around 9pm. Oops :)
Thursday, June 10th
We slept in. Well, i slept in. Jessica got up at 8:30 and made us sandwiches and packed us a cooler with fruit and drinks and fruit snacks. She's gonna make a great little mom someday. :) It was nice of her to do that and let me sleep in.
Then we were off to Boston, MA! I never really cared much about GPS but out here on the east coast, and especially when planning trips, they're GENIUS! We clicked to "avoid tolls" cause they can really add up, but avoiding tolls was adding alot of time... so much time that it was the amount we were saving in tolls was adding up in gas, so we changed our route and added the tolls. They cost us about $11 on the way up. Not too bad. Once we got close to NYC, there was a TON of traffic, which slowed us down quite a bit. It was supposed to take us 5 hours to get up there. We left around 5pm but didn't get there til around 7pm..
It was kinda fun because we went through quite a few states in less than 24 hours. I landed in Pennsylvania and we drove to New Jersey and stayed the night. On our way up to stay with my friend Marie, we drove through New York, Connecticut, Massachusettes and finally ended up in New Hamshire. (then we drove up to Vermont on Satruday but more about that later)
On our way up, we had SO much food, cause jessica packed us such a nice cooler and i had also made homemade oreos and banana bread. I felt like we were eating the whole time! Jessica was a little mad that i didn't eat her sandwiches but come on! i only have so much room in this belly!
We listened to some great music from the NOW cd's and Justin Bieber (ha) and some great talks from conference and a few talks i've gathered over the past couple years. Plus, great heart-to-hearts and good laughs. It was fun to be together.
We arrived in Nashua, Newhampshire around 7pm. It was so good to see Marie. I haven't seen her for about 3 years so it was good. We met her cute little doggy "Captain Jack". They adopted him from a dog shelter. He had been rescued. His previous owners had another dog which attacked little jack and damaged his eye. They let it fester for days and then just dropped him off at the pound to be euthanized. They ended up removing his eye and saving him to be adopted. He, is the cutest little dog i've ever seen! I'm not a pet person but i would love to have a little dog like Jack. Jack has many other names including Perrito Jones and Little, but Jessica and I called him other things like Jack Jack and Chicken Little. He was so fun.
Marie drove us around downtown Nashua and showed us many of the classic New England houses. She told us how when her and her husband were deciding where to move, they picked here because it had been voted best place to live in America twice in the past couple decades. Plus, it's pretty close to Boston but a lot cheaper to live.
We wanted to experience something truly "New Hampshire-ian" so she decided to take us to "Nashua House of Pizza". This place has been around for thirty years. The decorations weren't brilliant but the pizza was brilliant. They really know their stuff. We listened to the Black-Eyed Peas "I'm a B" as we drove around and wore our brand new Red Sox hats.
Friday June 11th
BOSTON!
This was my first time to Bean Town so i was really excited and didn't know what to expect. We got up super early to go to the Boston Temple. This was Marie's first time going back since she got married last November. So that was really exciting. We were a little late in getting up so we missed doing a session (they do them every hour) so we decided to do initiatory instead. But i didn't mind because i LOVE doing initiatory.
(you may notice this post is unfinished. i just saw that i never finished it and thought hey, might as well post what i have. meh. so here it is, in it's unfinished glory.)
