We didnt start the fire...

So monday night, after i went to the gym, i thought, "i should go get my bike. NO. I'll get it another day. WAIT. no... i should get it tonight." About an hour later, i get a phone call that my parents house was on fire.

???!!!

Yeah. That's what i thought too. Well, first i asked, "did you call 911?".

Ha. Of course they did. So i went over. i passed a fire truck and the paramedics and thought, "Oh, it must not have been that bad. their lights are off and they're already leaving." but, then i got to the street, there were 3 or 4 fire trucks blocking the ENTIRE street and a couple cop cars and more than one ambulance. the fire was already out, but there were about THIRTY fire men still there wrapping things up. (um, firemen are hot.)

The fire was in the garage. My little brother (14) and cousin (also 14) were "playing around with fire" in the garage. some how it got out of hand... then gasoline came into the picture... then an explosion and thus, garage on fire. i guess it was pretty scary. from what i gather, they ran inside but there were tons of smoke going in the house. it was almost midnight so everyone was in bed. a couple of them had to save the others and get them out of the house. (including my sweet little grandma... oh dear.)

But not to worry, everyone is ok. And really, the damage didnt seem to bad. (to me anyway. The Deseret News police log said there was about $50,000 in damages. meh. ?) the garage was black and my cousin's family's stuff was quite burned. inside the house, the hallway and my old bedroom walls were pretty black from the smoke. but nothing in the house was ruined. so overall, it really wasnt that bad. it could've been so much worse...

i guess since there was so much smoke, they can't stay in the house until it's professionally cleaned. (who knew?) so as of monday night, they've been staying in hotels. (all ELEVEN of them)

Here's some pictures of the damages. (the last pictures my cell phone took before it died. R.I.P)

The couch

This was the first thing i noticed when i came. I thought it was so cool! This inspired me to take the photos. Too bad my camera battery is still lost. i believe this was a humidifier once, before it became this great piece of ART!

The inside of the garage doorA melted guitar case. pretty much anything plastic melted like this. except the school lunch trays. (which i'm not even sure how we own...) but they were not affected by extreme heat. curious... When they created school lunch trays was that a requirement? "must be able to stand EXTREME heat". Ha ha.

The fridge covered in soot from the smoke. this is what the inside of the house looks like too...The poor couch got it the worst. Good thing things like couches are replacable huh?
P.S. my bike was in the garage. that was the significance at the beginning of the post. if i hadnt of gotten my bike earlier when i felt i should, it would be melted too. Thank you to God for saving my bike!

I think that NASA builds their spaceships out of school lunch trays.

dag. from the picture you sent me (r.i,p,, cell phone), i was under the impression that a few plastic bins were melted; i didn't know it was most of your garage and into the house!
like you said, thankfully, it could have been much worse.

way to be quick to observe and get your bike.

Oh my gosh! What next?! I'm glad everyone got out safely, but it's very sad that your family's house sustained so much damage. I hope it all gets resolved soon and life can get back to some form of normal over there.

what is the deal with BOYS and FIRE. >:(

Glad that you, your family and I guess most importantly your bike are all okay. Hehehe.. you are right though... it could have been worse, but thankgoodness it wasn't. Although your bike was salvaged in the fire it too could have been replaced unlike all of your family and sweet grandma. PS-- you can stop having a run of bad luck please. I dont want to hear that you got another ticket or you have to pay x-amt of dollars to the IRS or something crazy. Take care. We'll be praying for you.

Wow. That is crazy! I'm glad no one was hurt - that, truly, is a blessing.
