One year older;
and wiser too.
The winds of change have come. This time in my life, i happily greet them. (although, when they were just an idea, they were far easier to accept than now, when they're actually coming to pass..) Usually when change has come, i've resisted, making the winds seem to blow harder and harsher against me. But over the course of my life, i've learned the vital truth that Heavenly Father is in charge of the wind (Luke 8:22-25). And every time the winds of change have come into my life, even though i don't see it at the time, there is always a time later, when i realize these things are for my good (Doctrine and Covenants 122:5-7).
The changes:
- I made it through another year of life. Oh how much i've learned this year.
- I'm moving. They're selling the house i've been living in for the past year. I actually thought i'd be here for a while longer but, i guess i thought wrong. The house isn't quite sold yet, but i've got to be out by April 30th. Do i know where i'm living yet? Sorta. I haven't thought about it a ton, but i may be moving in with an old friend. Even though i don't know how things will work out, i feel good they will.
- New job? I applied for a management position at work. My boss went on a leave of absence for having a baby and decided not to come back. The doctor i work for has been really nice in talking me up to the District Manager, insisting that i am best for the position. Everyone has told me i have the position, except the person it's supposed to come from. If i get it, i will be making QUITE a bit more money, plus a yearly bonus. So cross your fingers that i pass the drug test. (apparently that's the LAST hoop i have to jump through..) I'll keep ya posted on whether i pass or not.
- My last time teaching temple prep was this last sunday. Over the past year and a half, i have grown such a strong testimony about the temple. I have learned more about the truths of the gospel and just how much God truly loves each of us. I have loved teaching and sharing my testimony about those truths. So while it feels a little like a relief to be moving on, i have loved it and loved all those i've taught far more than i can ever express. I will miss it.
- i found out that a friend, who i thought was a really close friend, and i've loved dearly, was not really my friend. that was hard to learn. many tears were shed. oh well.
- the semester is almost over. while it has been a really hard trying to time manage and memorize EVERYTHING in the world about anatomy (did you know the proper name for you "adam's apple" is the "laryngeal prominence of the thyroid cartilage"? and you've got to come up with this out of THIN AIR. no multiple choice here!) and trying to keep things together at work (working about 35 hours a week with school and being shorthanded two people has been quite the challenge) and teaching temple prep and trying to serve and visit teach and work out, oh and do i have time for a shower? NO! It has been quite a challenge to manage it all, but i must admit that it has been so good for me. i have learned so much. I remember thinking and sort of dreading when i wouldnt be in school anymore because i wasn't sure how i'd fill my time now that i was used to this busy schedule. i'm sure it'll work itself out. If i can't fill it with anything else, i'll make sure i take more showers. :)
- Dating. For some reason, being the busiest person on earth must be attractive because i've gotten more dates this semester than any other time in my life! Oh man. My dating life has always been a source for a good story. That hasn't stopped. To make a long story short, the idea of getting married was proposed, after only two weeks of dating. i had to politely decline. So.. i guess i can't complain that i'm not married, because, i very well could be. ha! :)
well... while all of this in my head seemed like SO MANY changes, when it's written out on paper (well, on screen) it seems so minute and unimportant. it always seems that way when it's someone else's story. but when it's your own, everything seems so much bigger, right?
I am excited for the changes though. I know it's time and i'm ready for whatever is coming my way. (where is a piece of REAL wood when you need it?)

jess
i like this post.
it's fun to look back over a year and see how much really did happen. often, there are things that you never expected at the start, but it's turned out to be pretty cool.
i'm glad you've got a good attitude about even the crazy and hard parts.
and i second what jess said. : )
change=opportunity.
and i third what jess said. (not that it needs it, but i just wanted to be part of the group.)
