in october of last year, i tried to convince my roommate (kelsey, a school teacher) to spend her fall break with me and go to disneyland (because we both LOVE disneyland). we were going to try to get others, but they fell through, so suddenly it was just kelsey and i. then jairo invited himself (which, i wouldve invited him but i didnt know if his parents would let him, and i didnt want kelsey to feel like a 3rd wheel. so i didnt even tell him about it...) and my mom invited herself.. ha. so it was quite the combo of people.
we stayed in vegas the first night at the stratosphere. it was only $29 a night, which i guess is worth it, but it wasnt that amazing. plus they trick you and make you pay resort fees to "look around". we told them we were just sleeping and driving the next day (i think we got there around midnight or so...) so we werent planning on going around the resort. so they took off the fee. we drove the next day to jairo's aunt and uncles (in huntington beach), where he would be staying. they lived about a half hour from disneyland, so we got a hotel there too. we dropped him off (had had to do "homework". watch the vice presidential debate between ryan and... now i can't remember who it was) so kelsey, my mom and i went to the beach. then his aunt and uncle invited us over for dinner so we went back. after dinner we went back to the hotel.
the next day we picked jairo up in the morning around 7am to go to disneyland. i found some deal online for tickets so we went to find the place. TURNS OUT, it's a place that buys 10 day park hoppers and basically you "rent" them for a little less than the ticket office price. i... it felt shady, but at the same time not (was i justifying?...) i dont know. anyway... so we got our tickets for a little less.. then at the end of the night you return them to their office. (i... dont know if i will do that again... but it's what happened... heh)
disneyland was great! i unfortunately dont think i have many pictures! we did park hoppers and went to california adventure where they had the new "cars land". it was AMAZING! it's like the actual city in the movie. the new ride had a 2 hour wait but they have a line for single riders which was about a half hour. some how jairo and i lucked out to ride in the same car though. it was actually a really fun ride. i dont think it was worth two hours... but still.
because it was halloween, things were decorated different. it was so excited! i've never been at this time of year!! i'd heard that the villans come out and they're the characters that you meet around disney. i remember seeing a few (cruella devile) but not too many others. i was slightly disappointed at that.
our first ride was space mountain and they had different music and some scary skeletons showing where the space images usually are. it was loud.. but fun to try something new. they also had a pumpkin mickey mouse head at the entrance, and the haunted mansion is changed to nightmare before christmas. it was a really fun time to be there.
we also watched the new night/water show... (now i cant remember the name...something about colors?) anyway, it was great as well. jairo doesn't like rides, so alot of time it was just kelsey and i riding and he and my mom would look around at stores while they waited.
man i love disneyland!
the next day, kelsey, my mom and i went to knotts berry farm. i havent been there since i was like, 15 and it's kelsey's favorite place. jairo doesnt like rides so he opted this one out. my mom doesnt like scary rides either but she came along just to go to knotts.
we went on a couple roller coasters and then... i got sick. haha! i had to lay down for almost an hour. i think it was just the combo of driving all night, then going to disneyland all day with little sleep, then going on crazy roller coasters. they were so crazy that the g force on one of them caused a black dot to appear on my touch screen on my phone. it didnt go away for almost a a week!
we date dinner at mrs. knott's chicken dinner place. their dinner is good... but i dont know if it's worth the almost $20/person, but it's fun. kelsey can't eat gluten but she sacrificed for the biscuits. it was fun.
it was knotts scary farm. we got tickets pretty cheap online. i think like, $35?

we were going to meet up with jairo afterward (knott's closed at 5 so knott's scary farm could commence. at first we were kinda mad - - cause disneyland closed early too for trick-or-treating-- but by the time 5pm rolled around, we were ready to go. it was DEAD at knotts so the lines weren't long. the longest line was for dinner afterward) but something happened and he couldn't (i think...). and... we went home the next day!
it was a fun trip! we just went for a couple days (left wed night, came home sunday). i made a CD just for the trip of all of me and kelsey's favorite songs so we could rock out in the car. jairo and my mom just read books the whole time. haha. it was the first time jairo and i had spent so much time together.
road trips are awesome.
and so is disneyland!
