Your slackened embrace
with deceiving tones
and hollow arms
longs to linger in the embers that once burned there.
Intimate phrases once tenderly received
wilt
and whither
as the mask of your skin falls slowly to where it belongs.
Like ashes from flesh
words disintegrate from my chest
and wander back to the home of the dammed.
Gnashing teeth grin at a victory supposed
but darkness will not fester here.
Promises dispel the fiery hatred arched from below.
